As a practice manager I was able to develop my skills and become confident in my role.

Nicola Glenn - Dental Hygiene Therapist

My name is Nicola Glenn and I have been working within ADP coming up to six years now. When I first joined ADP in October 2005, as a Junior Receptionist position, it was always very busy and with the help and support of my manager and work colleagues, I found it very easy to fit in within the practice and gained a lot of experience in this role. I went on further to pursue Dental nursing, gaining my National Certificate in Dental nursing in 2006. ADP are very supportive in the further development of their staff , and have shown me great support and advice in furthering my career. After completion on my Dental Nursing Qualification I went on to complete a course in Sedation Nursing and Oral Health Education at the Royal London Hospital in 2007.

I gained a vast amount of experience within ADP as a dental nurse and in 2008 I gained a place at Kings College Hospital to train as a Dental Hygiene Therapist, and have now just qualified in June 2010. Throughout the whole of my training ADP have shown great support and if I have needed any advice whilst training they have been there 100%. I would especially like to thank my manager Donna Glenn for all the help and support she has given me throughout my course, and for Dr Rana Hammed at ADP Epsom for all the clinical advice and support she has given me throughout my training.

I have now rejoined ADP as a Dental Hygiene Therapist and have been very lucky to be able to work in both the Epsom and Hayes branch. ADP Dental Company have given me the best support and direction to gain my career and are very interested in helping their staff achieve their future goals within dentistry. I would like to thank ADP and all my work colleagues for all their continual support.

My Name is Judith Fedorowycz and at the moment I am Practice Manager at ADP Newark. I run a busy 8 chair practice which became part of the ADP Company in July 2007. It was at this point that I was given the opportunity to become Practice Manager.

ADP has helped me with progressing my career, and has always been open to offering training opportunities. I have been encouraged to develop my skills and those of my team. I have become SOE champion, have played a part in developing the practice further as we now offer implants, hygienist services and orthodontics.

I enjoy the many challenges of my role and love being part of a team that works well together to make my practice a continued success. I feel that being part of a large company enables all of the practices to work together to achieve the goals of providing first class affordable dentistry to everyone.

After joining ADP from being an expense sharing principle, with absolute clinical freedom in every aspect.  I have been pleasantly surprised in how there has been little if any difference in my working environment since ADP took over.

I have been able to make all the clinical decisions necessary with complete freedom.  Patients are offered the very best NHS and private options, length of appointment time has not changed, and the working hours can be flexible to some degree.  The practice opening hours have not changed; we still finish early on a Friday afternoon.

The choice of materials has not changed; we can order what we previously ordered although there is a budget.  Certain disposable items are non-generic and ordered in bulk by the company.  There is also a separate private budget depending on the level of private treatment within the practice, which can be used for more specialist items.

I am still using the same laboratories for dentures and crowns, who have been my preferred supplier for a long time; however, the preferred ADP laboratory is e-teeth who also offer very good value for money.

The company has such a structure that even as an experienced dentist there are colleagues that I am able to chat to and discuss any problems. The Clinical Directors are always at the end of the phone or email, together with the Area Clinical Managers who endeavour to get to know their dentists.  The regional managers and area business managers are always on hand to discuss operational issues. 

For younger and overseas dentists, help has only to be asked for and there are regular team meetings and appraisals.  The training team are always working on new initiatives and updating policies and are always willing to help with problems such as learning SOE.

One of the main benefits of the company are the regular training sessions and CPD events that are organised.  These are free and available to everyone and gives you an easy opportunity to gain some of your CPD plus the opportunity to meet colleagues from other practices and regions.

There is a definite team sprit with everyone willing to help each other for instance when practices are short of staff or when UDA’s need to be increased.

The experience I have encountered has far exceeded my expectations.  Everyone within the ADP group has been a pleasure to work with.
