SPECIALIST TREATMENTS

PRIVATE TREATMENTS

Private treatment is all treatment not covered by the NHS. This is all treatment that is not clinically necessary; or alternative treatments where you decide not to have the proposed NHS option. Many of these options provide you with a more cosmetic solution to your dental problem.

As an NHS patient, you are free to have any private upgrades or treatment options you agree with your dentist, and will remain an NHS patient. All private treatment and the alternatives will be discussed with you and form part of your treatment plan, This is part of the necessary process of informed consent. Your dentist may recommend a treatment, but you should always consider the risks and benefits before choosing.

Private upgrades are available for most treatments. Your dentist will then be able to either restore your tooth to a natural appearance or even improve upon this. Private alternatives are most commonly white fillings and tooth coloured crowns on back teeth, tooth whitening procedures, veneers and all cosmetic dentistry procedures. Some emergency appointments for new patients not referred from the PCT helplines may also attract a private fee until you can be accepted for NHS care. Occasionally a dentist may be able to save a tooth that is not clinically necessary for your health. Under these circumstances, a private Root Canal Treatment may be offered. You would still be able to have an NHS crown or restoration in the tooth subsequently.

All ADP private treatments are covered by a 12 month quality guarantee except where you have been advised that the treatment is provisional or of a temporary nature. All treatment plans over £100 are available on extended Interest Free Credit over 10 or 20 months and interest bearing plans are also available where you wish to spread the costs of high value treatment over 2 or more years. Please ask the Practice Manager for details.

Private price guides are available in all ADP practices and you should always be informed of the total cost of treatment and the nature of the contract before proceeding. For details of individual treatments please see our treatment guides.
